Being Kind

We watched a video of Billy who had no friends. He finally found some friends.
Also did a feeling thing where we choose which side whether we like it or not - being excited, sad, grumpy and lots more.
If Mr Neal said only 10 people could go to a circus would this make you happy or sad?
Or if you couldn't go home how would you feel? (Stuck at school forever!)

So many ways to add

Three people who are working on stage 5 maths showed how they figured out how to add.
Luke used place value to work out his problem
Tavania showed us how you can jump to the next ten
Theo showed us how to use tidy numbers
Which way do you use?

Survival Kit

We are learning how to prepare for an earthquake. As a class we brainstormed all the things you could have in a survival kit. Then we had to discuss what we would put in and what not to include. We had to think about how much we would need for 3 days and what to put in if we weren't allowed to open our survival kit all the time.
After we choose the things we wanted (things in the hoop) we checked with the civil defence brochure. Somethings we had missed like batteries, clothing, toilet paper but we did get heaps of things too!

Earthquakes

We have been looking at heaps of information on Earthquakes this week. We know how earthquakes are made and we use heaps of words like plates, fault lines, epicentre to describe them. Now we are figuring out what to do if an earthquake happens at school. Have a look at Luca's design - can you see how he has folded his paper boy to cover his head and hold a table leg. We wouldn't want the table moving away from us!

Different spelling for the 'k' sound

We did a big brainstorm of all the 'k' words we could think of. Most were the c and k sound, are there anymore?
So far we have c, k, ck, I know of three more, can you guess what they are?
